About The Conference

Behind Ireland’s thousands of volunteers lie the equally dedicated individuals and organisations responsible for their recruitment, training, support, and management. These are the people who inspire volunteers and enable an environment where volunteering can thrive.

The National Volunteer Management Conference enables and enhances volunteering through the promotion of best practice in volunteer management.

This conference is essential to anyone who manages volunteers as part of their role (paid or unpaid) or anyone who is interested in volunteer management in both the Community & Voluntary Sector and Corporate Sector.

This conference allows delegates to spend quality time on professional development. It provides the opportunity to network with colleagues and experts in the industry as well as participate in a host of motivational and informative masterclasses.

2018 Programme

This year we welcome Minister Seán Kyne and Volunteer Ireland COE Nina Arwitz to open the conference along with Dr. Maura Farrell from NUIG who will present insights from her research on Rural Volunteerism.

Our masterclasses will explore the importance of resourcing volunteers, how to embed ‘excellence’ in volunteer management, digital strategy for recruiting, mobilising & organising volunteers, how to effectively screen your volunteers and the importance of harnessing feedback to drive improvement.

Our case studies in the afternoon will examine interesting programmes within the area of volunteering.  We will hear about the ‘Investing in Volunteers’ programme as well as ‘TrustIE,’ a pilot project to support smaller charities to recruit voluntary trustees, whilst also seeking to encourage a new pool of volunteers to consider joining boards. We will also be treated to a closing address from Human Rights Lawyer and Chief Executive of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, Noeline Blackwell, on ‘The Power of Small Places, Close to Home.’

The conference provides a day of dialogue, networking & knowledge sharing, invaluable to any organisation.
