Dublin, 13 May 2024 – As National Volunteering Week approaches (20th – 26th May), Dublin City Volunteer Centre gears up to highlight the incredible impact of volunteers from diverse backgrounds coming together to make a difference. Under the theme “Uniquely Us,” this year’s celebration shines a light on volunteers enriching communities across Ireland.

“At Dublin City Volunteer Centre, diversity isn’t just a buzzword; it’s the heartbeat of our organisation,” remarked the Centre Manager, Mike Randall. “Our volunteers, spanning generations, cultures, and communities, bring a wealth of experience and insight that strengthens our service. National Volunteering Week is our chance to highlight their dedication and the transformative power of volunteering.”

Throughout the week, the Dublin City Volunteer Centre will roll out a series of events and activities designed to inspire, inform, and engage both potential volunteers and organisations. From personal stories showcasing the impact of volunteering to informative sessions for both volunteers and organisations that involve volunteers, the week promises something for everyone.

Mike Randall, Centre Manager said “Dublin thrives on the generosity of a diverse range of people. Volunteers are the lifeblood of our communities, whether they’re delivering meals, teaching English to newcomers, or simply dropping round to see an older person for a cup of tea. National Volunteering Week is our chance to recognise and celebrate these everyday heroes.”

National Volunteering Week has once again partnered with Healthy Ireland who share our vision of healthy, sustainable communities.

Minister of State for Public Health, Wellbeing and the National Drugs Strategy, Colm Burke T.D., said “Volunteers across Ireland in all walks of life make an invaluable contribution to society and National Volunteering Week is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge their commitment. Individually, volunteers play a significant role in enriching the lives of others by giving freely of their time and skills. Collectively our rich network of volunteers all around the country has a truly transformative effect, making all of our communities stronger, more connected, more inclusive and more uniquely us.”

National Volunteering Week is the annual week where we celebrate all things volunteering. A local and national communications campaign supported by a programme of events will take place from 20^th – 26^th May 2024. This year’s theme is Uniquely Us.
