This month the Dublin City Volunteer Centre has teamed up with the Dublin City FM and created a radio segment on volunteering. The show is run by Kristin Kristjansdottir, our Placement Officer and the first episode was aired on Wednesday 25th September at 15.00. At least two more episodes will be made, airing on the 30th October and 27th November at 15.00. Tune in here to listen live. In the days after broadcasting the episodes will be uploaded here.
During the half an hour, Kristin will be interviewing volunteers and represantatives from organisation that work with volunteers. The meaning of volunteering will be explored and we will look to share a ligth on the variety and importance of voluntary work within our community.
Episode 1 – Wednesday 25th September 2019
An interview with a couple of staff members at the Dublin City Volunteer Centre. Jenny Keegan is our Garda vetting Liasion Officer who loves working with animals and recently attended a pig’s birthday bash. Lucy Ray is our Outreach and Placement Officer and runs a couple of exciting social inclusion projects, whilst she volunteers for world peace.
Episode 2 – Wednesday 30th October 2019
An interview with Grainne Laughran, Communication Officer at ALONE – and Gizem Severoglu, a volunteer enthusist who wrote her dissertation on volunteering at Trinity College.
Episode 3 – Wednesday 27th November 2019
In this episode we look at the relationship between volunteering and social inclusion and cultural integration. Some clips are shared from a panel discussion recorded during one of DCVC events ‘Changing the tune of volunteering with Autism’. Then we interviewed Azeez Yusuff who was nominated for the Volunteer Ireland awards this year for his amazing work with Sports against Racism.
