Information for International Protection Applicants, Displaced Persons and Refugees

Here at Dublin City Volunteer Centre, we believe that volunteering is for everyone.

We want to help you find volunteering that suits your circumstances and goals-whatever those might be.

If you are an International Protection Applicant, Displaced Person, or Refugee, you may find volunteering more challenging depending on your current circumstances. At the same time, volunteering is a wonderful way to help you get to know your new community while building confidence and wellbeing.

Please see below for resources and events to help you start volunteering. We will update this page with new events as they become available.

I'm still new in Dublin ... volunteering helped me to learn about the lifestyle and humour of other nations.

Welcome to Volunteering!
Volunteering Event for people new to Ireland

Volunteering is not only a great way to help others and contribute to society – it can also be a chance to meet new people, get to know Dublin, build your skills, and bring some activity and structure to your week. Lots of people have found volunteering to be a rewarding and enjoyable way to integrate into Irish society – why not come along and learn more?

We will discuss:

  • volunteering while waiting for your transfer
  • how to register with the Volunteer Centre and find volunteer opportunities
  • continuing volunteering even if you leave Dublin
  • volunteering if you need to improve your English
  • how volunteering can benefit you
  • a few ideas for roles to get you started!

You will need to register for a FREE ticket to participate in these events. Each event covers the same information.
