New Podcasts – What have we been up to?

These past few months have been a strange and unique experience for the staff at the Dublin City Volunteer Centre and our volunteers. Coming out of the chaos that the first few months of COVID19 and lockdown brought, we thought this time in the history of Ireland and volunteering is worth documenting, so we decided to bring back our podcast that started last year!
Please have a listen below to hear about what our staff has been up to. You can also hear from volunteers who participated in various of projects during COVID-19.

1. Episode - Dublin City Volunteer Centre: Where have we been?

Where have we been, what has been happening and what is coming up? A chat between a few of Dublin City Volunteer Centre’s staff members about the craziness that has been COVID19 and where it has taken us.

2. Episode - Dublin City Volunteer Centre and the Cabra Library: Book Deliveries!

We had a chat with Damien O’Shaughnessy and Kieran Conlon about their experiences during COVID-19 and their involvement in the Cabra Library Book Delivery Project.

3. Episode - Dublin City Volunteer Centre and CRiTiCALL

Launched in June 2020 as a response to the 30% increase in domestic abuse calls and #STILLHERE, CRiTiCALL was formed! Listen to this LIVE recording from our event on Culture Night 2020 to hear from collaborators, donors, volunteers and survivors who all came together in support of victims of domestic abuse.

4. Episode - Dublin City Volunteer Centre: Volunteering and Test Centers

A conversation with Dublin City Volunteer Centre’s manager, Edwina about volunteering, COVID19 and the creation of our volunteer program at the Lucan Test Centre at the beginning of lockdown. We also caught up with a couple of our former volunteers, Camille and Peter who participated in the program.

5. Episode - Dublin City Volunteer Centre: Social Inclusion and Volunteering

This episode was recorded a week before 28.09.2020 – a week before Social Inclusion week. We set down with Franzi, Dublin City Volunteer Centre’s Outreach and Placement Officer, and chatted about Social Inclusion and Volunteering. International Volunteers have been making a huge contribution locally also during COVID-19. In the second half of this episode hear from our lovely volunteers Shima and TJ who gave us a little bit of their time to hear about their experience of volunteering.
