You as the VIO will be responsible for all screening, detail checks and Garda Vetting for the volunteer. The Experience Bank is a project to facilitate the connection between volunteers and VIOs. Once you have come to an agreement with the volunteer DCVC has referred to you via The Experience Bank, they enter your volunteer programme and fall under your responsibility (including screening, induction, training, insurance and recognition).
The volunteering can take place after the pilot project has been completed e.g. after April/ May 2022, but we ask that it takes place within a reasonable timeframe of 3 months, and that the volunteers will have started their volunteering by the start of August 2022.
This is up to you and the volunteer to agree, and depends on your needs as well as the volunteer’s preference and availability. Please ensure to define a specific end date for the volunteer engagement in your volunteer agreement / role description (people have specifically asked for this!). You can always review the engagement at that stage and renew it if mutually desired.
Yes, you can either use an existing role that you are already using for recruitment or have up on I-VOL. You might like to review it to make sure it is appropriate for the 55+ target audience.
No, you don’t have to have a role up yet. You can create a role based on the conversation with the volunteer as part of project. However, we asked that you draft a specific role description, including a defined time commitment, by the 3rd May 2022.
Yes, absolutely, you can participate even if you are already involved in other initiatives like the Experience Counts Coffee morning etc.
