Your life experience, commitment and skills are highly valued by charities and community organisations. From befriending and caring roles, practical and DIY projects, board and committee roles, driving, teaching, administration, charity shops and many more, there are a variety of volunteering roles to suit your lifestyle and availability.
Dublin City Volunteer Centre (DCVC) is running The Experience Bank project to connect people with organisations who value mature volunteers and their skills and life experience. This pilot project is happening between September 2021 and May 2022.
- We will create a profile for you, showcasing your interests, life experience, skills and preferences.
- Participating organisations can browse The Experience Bank and choose a volunteer they would like to engage with for a specific task or project.
- We will contact you to see if you are happy to be connected with the organisations that chose you.
- DCVC introduces you and the organisation to each other; you will then have a conversation about how the organisation would like to involve you as a volunteer and you can agree specific tasks, time commitment, location of volunteering etc.
- You start volunteering.
Instead of you searching for a volunteering opportunity that suits your interests and availability, we are storing your life experience and skills in The Experience Bank, so that participating charities and community organisations can come and look through the Bank to be inspired by the available skills and experience. They can contact you via DCVC based on your profile to explore how you might be able to become a volunteer with them.
This is not a “matching” service but rather the opportunity to put yourself and your story out there. For organisations it is an opportunity to search for volunteers based on individual life experience and skills, rather than asking for volunteers to apply for a specific role.
When you join The Experience Bank, you only commit to engaging in the process. That means adding your profile to The Experience Bank and being open to conversations with organisations who are participating in the project.
Your volunteer engagement is based on your individual conversation with an organisation. After you connect with them, you will talk through time commitment, length of engagement, your role, specific tasks, support and the location of volunteering, based on your expectations and the need of the organisation. This means you only commit to a volunteer engagement when you come to a mutual agreement.
- Through our Community Ambassador Volunteers, we will support you with teasing out what you are interested in and with creating your profile for The Experience Bank.
- We will share your information with organisations who have signed up for the project. Your profile will not be publicly available.
- We commit to following GDPR guidelines and keep your data safe.
- We will store your profile on The Experience Bank for an agreed time period.
- We are here for support and advice along the way and will stay in touch with you throughout your journey with The Experience Bank.
