The Experience Bank project looks to connect people 55+ with organisations who value mature volunteers and their skills and life experience. This pilot project is run by Dublin City Volunteer Centre between September 2021 and May 2022, and supported by the Community Foundation for Ireland.

The Experience Bank project offers an opportunity to Volunteer Involving Organisations to directly access a range of highly motivated, committed and experienced volunteers. It cuts out potentially lengthy application processes and gives you an opportunity to browse through a bank of volunteer profiles, so that you can chose a volunteer that is the perfect fit for you.
You might have a specific role in mind or they could be someone to support you with realising that project you’ve been thinking about for ages but never gotten around to. Perhaps they could take someone on in an advisory role for your board? Or they could add the human touch to one of your services? They could mentor another less experienced volunteer, or help you review a project/ service based on their experience? It is up to you.
- Community Ambassador Volunteers reach out to people in their local community who might have an interest in volunteering and help them to create a profile for The Experience Bank.
- Dublin City Volunteer Centre (DCVC) sets up an “Experience Bank” to showcase the volunteers’ profiles, including their interests, skills, life experience and preferences.
- Participating Volunteer Involving Organisations (VIOs) can browse The Experience Bank and choose a volunteer they would like to engage with for a specific task or project.
- Dublin City Volunteer Centre then facilitates the connection between the volunteer and organisation and supports them towards agreeing mutually satisfying parameters for the volunteer’s engagement with that organisation.

- Register your interest.
- Attend the online information session on Monday 28th March 11am – 12pm.
- Be available to participate in the project during April 2022.
- Agree to Terms of Reference.
- You don’t need to commit to taking on any volunteers if you don’t find anyone that is a good fit for your organisation; we just ask that you engage in the process and explore options with at least 2 volunteers during April 2022.
- Commit to provide your volunteer with a specific role description and agreed time frame for their engagement before they start volunteering. The volunteering (incl. induction and training) can start after April 2022.
- Participate in the project evaluation (focus group. discussion) in May 2022
